Thoughts on Episode 1, Season 4 of “Sherlock:

SPOILERS if you plan to watch it, but…

Okay, the episode was decent but not great, but YEEEEEEEEES they killed Mary!

My hopes for the rest of the season have gone WAY up. She was an anchor on the show. She had to go.

  1. Having just come from a twitter feed full of people moping or moaning or both, this amused me more than it probably should.

    • I loved “His Last Vow” but it was clear she was weighing heavily on the writers’ minds during the Christmas special and that was a complete disaster. She was too big to be second fiddle to Sherlock. She had to go.

      • Yeah, I kind of agree with you, although I wasn’t a big fan of having John contemplate an affair (although the way they had written him so henpecked by everyone else I could totally see why he would) so that he had some reason to be filled with remorse after she died. It felt out of character who has been the moral centre of the show, and the one decent figure in a world seemingly full of sociopaths.

      • You know, my first reaction to the sort-of-not-really affair was “Come on!”, but after I thought about it for a moment how much can you blame the poor guy? His wife was a lying bitch and now he’s THIRD fiddle to his best friend. At least someone was appreciating him – and even then he broke it off before it got past texting anyway.

Though obviously that chick is showing up again.

    Hah!
