“God Made Girls”

Here are the lyrics of “God Made Girls”. Bolding is mine.

Somebody’s gotta wear a pretty skirt,
Somebody’s gotta be the one to flirt,
Somebody’s gotta wanna hold his hand so God Made Girls

Somebody’s gotta make him get dressed up,
Give him a reason to wash that truck,
Somebody’s gotta teach him how to dance,
So God made girls.

He needed something soft and loud and sweet and proud
But tough enough to break a heart
Something beautiful, unbreakable, that lights up in the dark

So God made girls, God made girls
He stood back and told the boys, “I’m ’bout to rock your world.”
And God made girls (for singing in your front seat)
God made girls (for dancin’ to their own beat)
He stood back and told the boys, “I’m ’bout to rock your world.”
And God made girls.

Somebody’s gotta be the one to cry
Somebody’s gotta let him drive
Give him a reason to hold that door so God made girls

Somebody’s gotta put up a fight,
Make him wait on a Saturday night
To walk downstairs and blow his mind,
So God made girls.

Something that can wake him up and call his bluff and drag his butt to church
Something that is hard to handle
Somethin’ fragile to hold him when he hurts

So God made girls, God made girls
He stood back and told the boys, “I’m ’bout to rock your world.”
And God made girls (for singin’ in your front seat)
God made girls (for dancin’ to their own beat)
He stood back and told the boys, “I’m ’bout to rock your world.”
And God made girls

I particularly like the juxtaposition between God making girls so they can do virtually useless things and help out the menfolk, and also made them so they could “dance to their own beat”, which as everybody knows is a good purpose for your existence.

Notice how girls don’t wash the car. They get the men to do it.

And note how his butt needs to be “dragged” to Church, and she needs to fight him and make him wait for things. Because being a bitchy nag whose purpose in life is to look pretty and motivate men to do things means you also get the luxury of being unpleasant.

Awesome.

    >>Somebody’s gotta wear a pretty skirt,

Girls do look amazing in pretty skirts.

    >>Somebody’s gotta be the one to flirt,

In my experience it goes both ways, but it usually ends up to my efforts.

    >>Somebody’s gotta wanna hold his hand so God Made Girls

    True.

    >>Somebody’s gotta make him get dressed up,

I’ve seen some of my guy friends dress “better” depending on the fashion of the girlfriend. If the guy is already fashionable, then there would be little need to “improve” one’s closet of clothes.

    LOLLzzzl.

    One of my favorite cynics.

“Girls do look amazing in pretty skirts.”

Word. Especially when riding bicycles or scooters. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Couldn’t watch the whole video, but my first impressions:

This is country’s answer to Meghan Trainor. It is the “conservative” and “Christian” version of “Dear Future Husband”.

I stopped the playback when I got to:

Somebody’s gotta make him get dressed up,
Give him a reason to wash that truck,
Somebody’s gotta teach him how to…

Dance? Dance doesn’t rhyme with truck This song is totally nonsensical, so they could have put any verse there. Why did they pick a verse with truck to be followed up with “Somebody’s gotta teach him how to…”? The cadence doesn’t change so I was left with the feeling that the last word was supposed to rhyme with the previous last word.

This song is exactly what I spoke of in my post Sacred Cowgirls. Girls are supposed to be loud and proud put up a fight and call his bluff? Churches, presumably, should be teaching that the Bible says the Lord loves a woman with a gentle and quiet spirit; submissive and respectful. Maybe she has to drag him to church because the church sucks.
